About Us
BBC Studios’ Direct-to-Consumer (DTC) business brings premium content directly to North American audiences through two distinctive streaming brands: BritBox and BBC Select.
BritBox, the ultimate streaming destination for British TV. We offer an unparalleled collection of thoughtfully curated entertainment—cleverly crafted and full of the charm, wit, and heart that define British storytelling.
Born from the BBC, our mission is to bring authentic British stories to our audiences. Launched in 2017, we are a small but mighty streamer that punches above our weight—available on every major platform and even featured among the bright lights of Times Square—and we’re just getting started.
BBC Select is a documentary streaming service that has been successfully operating since February 2021. It has established itself as the third-largest documentary streaming service in the US. With plans to expand through original commissions, territorial premieres, and new distribution platforms, BBC Select continues to serve a highly engaged audience that values educational, high-quality content. The integration of BBC Select into the DTC organization presents a strong opportunity to leverage shared capabilities, insights, and expertise to accelerate growth and enhance overall customer experience.

Job Purpose:
We are looking for a curious, proactive Junior Solution Architect to help shape the technology behind our media streaming platform.
Working alongside the Principal Architect, the architects team and engineering teams, you will explore technical problems, build prototypes and contribute to designs across our services. You will receive guidance and mentoring, with room to take ownership as your skills develop.
This role suits a recent graduate or someone early in their engineering career who learns quickly, enjoys building things and wants to understand how software works at scale. Experience in streaming or OTT is a strong plus, but is not required.
Responsibilities:
Architecture and engineering
Help turn product and business requirements into practical technical designs.
Build prototypes, investigate technical options and document your findings.
Work with engineers to understand and improve the reliability, performance and security of our cloud services.
AI and agentic development
Participate in architecture discussions and learn from experienced engineers and architects.
Take initiative, ask thoughtful questions and follow through on the work you own.
Knowledge and Experience:
Technical foundations
A practical understanding of software development, APIs, databases and how services communicate in a distributed system.
Hands-on cloud experience with AWS preferred, or Azure or GCP. University, personal and internship projects all count.
The ability to write, read and debug code in at least one programming language.
Demonstrable AI experience
Advanced, practical use of AI coding tools beyond individual prompts, such as configuring agents, providing project context and building workflows that include testing and review.
A project you can walk us through, explaining what you built, how AI contributed, what went wrong and how you verified the result.
Nice to have
Experience or personal interest in OTT, media streaming or video platforms.
Exposure to cloud deployment, containers or infrastructure as code.
Experience building AI integrations using retrieval, tool calling or Model Context Protocol.
You do not need previous architecture experience or a production portfolio. We welcome examples from university, personal projects, internships and open-source contributions. We are interested in how you think, what you have built and how you learn.
Personal Attributes:
Curiosity, initiative and the ability to learn unfamiliar technologies quickly.
Clear communication, openness to feedback and a collaborative approach.
